Prerequisites for Installing SAP:
- Ensure that the hostname complies with the requirements of Note 611361.
- Implement the latest operating system patches.
- Verify the definitions of your keyboard.
- Execute the Prerequisites Checker Standalone
- Download the most recent version of Software Provisioning Manager.
- Unzip your download using SAP CAR
- Run the installer using SAPinst.
- On the Home screen, select SAP Product→Database→Preparations→Prerequisite Check.
- Enter the settings you need and choose Next. You will then see a result.
- Depending on the results of the Prerequisite Checker, carry out changes.
- For database server instances and application server instances, physical or virtual processing units available in the operating system should be
- greater than or equal to 2.
- Make sure the optical media drive is compatible with ISO 9660.
- Check the parameters of the paging file and the kernel using mem limits.
- Make SAPEXE.SAR is available for installation hosts.
- Unzip mem limits from file and start mem limits.
- Increase the paging space if you find any error messages and rerun mem limits till no errors exist.
- Verify that the files de_DE.iso88591 and en_US.iso88591 are available. In order to do this, run command locale –a.
- Web browsers, at least Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome are available.
- Hostname: To determine the hostname, type the command hostname.

Space Requirements:
4.3 GB temporary disk space for each installed media that you are copying to the hard disk.
1.2 GB temporary disk space for installation.
40 GB for the NetWeaver Minimum DB instance.
2GB to the primary application server instance.
Swap Space Requirements:
2 * RAM, not less than 20 GB.

Basic Installation Parameters:
Utilize the typical installation mode.
- Unicode: Each new installation is Unicode, except if it is a system copy for a non-Unicode system upgraded to the current version.
SAP System ID: Refer to Note 1979280 for dedicated SIDs. - Instance Number: Technical identifier of internal processes is a two-digit number between 00 to 97. Avoid using 02 or 75. It should be the only one on the host.
- Virtual Host Name: Type the name of the virtual host in the Virtual Host field. If you fail to provide it, the installation program will use the physical hostname.
- Master Password: It is used by the users of OS (
adm) ABAP Users SAP*, EARLYWATCH and DDIC. - The individually encrypted key for secure storage: We can define an individual encryption key that is randomly generated for secure storage in the filesystem and the Database.
- DNS domain name of the SAP system: It is used to compute the fully qualified domain name that is configured within SAPLOCALHOSTFULL. It is made up of a hostname and a domain name.
- ABAP Message Server Port: If no value is provided, it uses the default value. Ports should be unique on every host. By default 36
is set as an external message server port and 39 is set as the internal message server port. - Users and groups of operational systems: If the users of the operating system do not exist, the elements
adm Database Administrator users are created. - Landscape directory of your system: An existing SLD may or may not be registered.
- SLD Host: Existing SLD's Hostname.
- SLD HTTP(S) Port: An existing SLD's HTTP or HTTPS port. It complies with convention 5
00. - User name and password of the SLD data provider: User and password from existing SLD data provider.
- Database ID: The
identifies the instance of the Database. The installation program will prompt you when you install the database instance. can be identical with . - Database Schema and Password: The ABAP database schema is referred to as SAP
. The default is SAPSR3 (which is your choice).

Getting Ready for SAP Installation:
- Make sure that OS users and groups are established.
- Configure the filesystems and ensure that the necessary disk space is free for the directories created while installing.
- If needed, configure virtual hostnames.
- Front-end Software should be installed.
- Verify that the necessary installation media is available.
- Creation of operating system users and groups.
- Make sure that the filesystem and folders are created, and that space is sufficient.
- Make sure there is sufficient space in the Oracle directories.
Preparing the Installation Media:
- Download the latest version of Software Provisioning Manager.
- Download SAPCAR's latest version.

- Download the most recent kernel.
- Unzip Software Provisioning Manager to your local folder.
- Provide the required software to the installer.
Executing the SAP Installer:
- Sign on as root.
- Adjust the display.
Command: setenv display
- Adjust umask to 022.

To Restart After an Error:
- Execute sapinst:
/sapinst. - Choose the desired install option and then click NEXT.
- On-screen, you find the question "What do you want to do?".
- You can either start a new installation or start the one that is not yet finished.
- Install Oracle 11 upon request.
- The Run installer script must be updated.
- Install Oracle 11 upon request.
- Stage directory must be changed: /oracle/stage/112_64/database/SAP
- Ensure that umask is set on 022: umask 022.
- Configure the display environment: setenv DISPLAY

- Perform Prerequisite Checks – resolve all failures before proceeding.
- Summary – select Finish.
- Finish - End by executing root.sh as root in a different session.
- Install a SAP Bundle patch to Oracle.
- See note 1431800 for the bundle's list that needs to be implemented.
- To implement the bundle patches, commands listed in the README file must be followed.
